Natália Brito is a second-generation coffee producer, a cupper, and also a trader who runs her own exporting company. In addition to managing her own farms, she sources coffees from producers in and around the Jaguara region and plays an important role in connecting them to the specialty market. Building on a passion for coffee inherited from her grandfather, she continues to experiment with fermentation methods and drying processes, creating lots with diverse and distinctive flavor profiles.

Having originally worked within the commercial market, Natália began seeking out small-scale producers in her region in order to add greater value through her operation. Today, she builds strong relationships with quality-focused producers and supports them in developing specialty production. As a result, Brazil is now producing lots that are notably unique and complex.

We also source coffees from Augusto Borges in the same Mantiqueira de Minas region, and his coffees are exported through Natália as well.

Toca da Jaguara is a farm Natália purchased in recent years. Its history dates back to 1991, when two women—Leila and Margot—acquired a previously neglected piece of land. After many years of steadily improving quality, the two retired and transferred the farm to Jaguara Coffee, who shared their values. Today, Natália runs the farm together with her father. While the farm is small by Brazilian standards, it stands out for the remarkable variety of lots produced from its compact plots. More than 40% of the farm is preserved as native vegetation, and its agroforestry system balances the use of natural resources with ecosystem conservation.

This was one of the most memorable coffees from this year’s sourcing. Across each lot from Toca da Jaguara, there is a subtle floral impression that, combined with carefully managed fermentation, gives the coffee an elegant character. It features a silky mouthfeel, bright fruit notes, and a sweet, lingering finish.
Because each lot is extremely small, we will blend three lots and release them together as “Jaguara.”
